Our Mission
To have fun while working hard to become a competitive, street stock racing team that promotes childhood health and safety messaging to families attending the Sycamore Speedway and those living in the far western suburbs of Chicago.
Our Goals
Our team is determined to be successful, though we are aware that it will continue to take some time. Last season, we won 2 lower heat races. This season, we are striving to improve our qualifying times, win a trophy dash and a fast heat, and ultimately a feature race.
Over the past few seasons, we have learned more about dirt track racing, the Sycamore Speedway, and the racing community. We feel blessed to have had these experiences. This year, we will continue to solidify our presence at the track while working hard to provide our sponsors with favorable brand recognition.
Throughout the 2018 season, we plan on messaging a handful of safety topics. In time, the GPM Racing Team anticipates partnering with community resources to focus on selected childhood health and wellness issues.
Our Driver
Mark Regnier, from Batavia, IL will drive our number 33 stock car. Regnier, a pediatrician and owner of Genesis Pediatric Medicine in Sycamore, Illinois is married to Kerry, a pediatric dietitian and the team’s manager, and he is father to Luke and Grace, who are also members of the team.
Safety First
The GPM Racing Team is safety minded. Our driver will wear a racing helmet, a HANS device (a head and neck restraint) and fire retardant clothing including a racing suit, undergarments and shoes. He will be contained in a certified racing seat and restrained by a 5 point harness. Our car has a full safety cage equipped with padding, a kill switch (that turns off power to the engine), an in-car fire suppression system and a fire extinguisher.
Thank you
I am thankful to Jason Gehringer for his friendship and goodness. To Gary Ozgowicz, you have a kind heart, a curious mind, and a helpful spirit. Thank you for your time. To Jay Brendle, your driving acumen, guidance, and assistance have been invaluable. Thank you for your family’s hospitality. Lastly, thank you to Bill Phillips for your advocacy and expertise. I could not have made such progress from last year without your input, time, and wrenching. As always, I am thankful to Mr. Kevin Ramey for allowing me to inherit the years of his refinements in his former race car. It’s time for school to begin again. Experience needs to be gained through seat time. Let’s get racing. – Dr. Mark
